About the Dispatcher position:

The Dispatcher position is in the Division of Facilities Planning & Managements (FP&M) within the Department of Transportation Services. Transportation Services is responsible for the coordination and administration of all transportation-related services for the UW campus community. The primary functions of Transportation Services include the sale/management of parking permits special event coordination maintenance and enforcement construction coordination lot and booth operations citation payments and appeals information technology financial transportation planning and development of multimodal options.

The Dispatcher plays a great role in Transportation Services success. This role will be assisting permit holders and campus visitors by responding to inquiries related to parking through the intercom twoway radio and computer platform providing clear professional and efficient service with every interaction. The Dispatcher will also collaborate with key campus partners including UWPD Special Events and Field Services to ensure smooth and safe transportation operations across campus addition the position will participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities designed to support career growth and strengthen operational expertise.

Full-Time: 100% FTE

Hours generally scheduled 12:30PM to 11:00PM Fridays through Mondays. Occasional nights weekends and holidays may be required for this position.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoots and resolves issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Monitors and maintains work areas and supplies to meet customer and operational needs
  • Organizes distributes and maintains relevant work unit procedures polices and updates to ensure accuracy and relevancy of delivered information
  • Guides and trains staff and student workers
  • Processes customer transactions and may take payments following established policies and procedures
  • Provides exceptional service answers questions or provides information in a specific subject area to (internal external) (customers donors stakeholders) based on set material or standards
  • Effectively complete NSF Collection Forms with required information for collection of parking fees enforces NSF policies within the customer service standards.

  • Monitors and responds to traffic flow with a high level working knowledge of T2 parking systems to spontaneously resolve lot traffic issues

  • Coordinate/communicate with UWPD Field Services Enforcement and outside vendors. This may include open/close parking facilities return lots to normal operation lot counts etc. Troubleshoot gate errors repair.

The minimum rate for this position is $23.00 but it is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally
  • Customer service experience with a diverse range of customers including varying backgrounds needs and communication style
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fastpaced environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or ability to learn two-way radio intercom and phone communication with customers and staff
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Suite

Education:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent; preferred
