Accounts Receivable Specialist (Medical Billing) - Generations Behavioral Health- Warrensville Heights

Job Summary :

Under the direction of the Central Billing Office Manager and part of an outstanding, experienced, knowledgeable Central Billing Team, Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for insurance follow-up, claim appeals, working denials, payment posting, and various claims processing tasks.

Position Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of five years of medical billing or equivalent experience required; Behavioral Health experience preferred.

Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities:

  • Review and processing of outstanding third party payer Accounts Receivable
  • Completion of necessary claim appeal related to denials and short payments.
  • Knowledge of Patient insurance and benefit verification/eligibility
  • Knowledgeable of criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and private insurance coverage and payer portals.
  • Posting of payments from insurance companies
  • Communicate daily with insurance carriers, patients, office staff, and other third parties to collect outstanding balances due, resolve disputes, denials, and general nonpayment issues.
  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

Additional Skills / Qualifications:

  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Will need to master additional software including billing software.
  • Excellent telephone and communication skills.
  • Detailed use of Payer Portals
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
  • Execute various paperwork, like information files processing, and other daily administrative tasks.
  • Maintain an efficient, organized work environment.
